Bones and Fuzz

Band of Skulls’ second album Sweet Sour arrived in early 2012 sounding like it was recorded inside a bruise. Ryan Hamilton and Emma Richardson trade vocals over riffs that borrow from the Stooges and the White Stripes without embarrassing either—thick, analog, occasionally transcendent. The record isn’t spotless, but spotless is overrated. It earns its volume.
