Kimbra Corrects the Record

Kimbra had just spent the better part of 2011 being the girl in the Gotye song, which is its own particular trap—you become the question mark at the end of someone else’s sentence. Warrior felt like the correction. The video has the compressed intensity she does best: theatrical, slightly unhinged, too controlled to be chaos and too strange to be straightforward pop. She was operating at a different frequency than almost everything else charting that year, and it was hard not to watch it twice.
