Rihanna, Unscheduled

There’s an entire cottage industry built around photographing Rihanna on vacation, and she’s always known it—which is maybe why the results look less like invasion and more like exhibition. She was somewhere warm, barely dressed, looking exactly as good as you’d expect, and the photos circulated accordingly. Hard to feel bad about that. There’s a version of celebrity surveillance that just becomes part of the performance, and Rihanna in 2012 had clearly decided which version she was in.
