What Coco Capitán Already Knows

There’s a particular loneliness running through Coco Capitán’s photographs—not performed, not the lonely-girl-in-a-crowd cliché, but something more like being slightly out of phase with everything around you. "Everybody But Me" sits with that feeling and turns it into composition, color, something worth looking at rather than just enduring. She was barely twenty when she made it, which somehow makes it more unsettling, not less.
