Marty McFly Is on Twitter and Running Behind Schedule

Back to the Future is the best trilogy ever made. I include Star Wars in that comparison and I’ll die on this hill. The films run on a particular logic—optimistic, almost mechanical, closer in spirit to a Swiss watch than a myth—and most time-travel stories can’t touch them because most are really about regret, while Back to the Future is fundamentally about momentum.

Someone on Twitter decided this needed a live reenactment. Fifty-odd accounts, running in real time—Marty, George, Lorraine, and yes, a dedicated account for the DeLorean itself, which is either the funniest creative decision or the most unhinged, and I genuinely cannot decide which. Marty has already saved George from getting hit by a car. He’ll be waking up in Lorraine’s bedroom any minute now. Who needs television.
