There’s a version of the evening that belongs to M83—the one where city lights blur past the window and nothing needs to be decided yet. Ali & Matthias fits exactly there. It comes from the soundtrack to You and the Night, Anthony Gonzalez contributing to his brother Yann’s film, and it barely qualifies as a full song—more of a threshold, an intake of breath before something larger begins. Less a track than an overture to a mood.

After Midnight City and We Own the Sky and Wait, I’d follow M83 into practically anything. This quiet thing is enough for now.
