The Drake Formula, Performed Flawlessly

Nobody commits to the hard-guy act quite like Drake while making it completely obvious the whole thing is a pose. The video for Worst Behavior—off Nothing Was the Same—is all menacing stares and slow-burn swagger built on Cashmere Cat’s queasy, expensive production, and yet the charisma lands anyway because the contradiction is the entire point. This is a man who uses the word "fuck" in close proximity to "sushi" and somehow makes it read as intimate.

He plays bad boy the way certain actors play villains—with such visible delight that you’re rooting for him before you’ve decided whether you should be. The hard looks he practices in the mirror, the coiled stillness—it’s theater, and he knows you know it’s theater, and that’s exactly why it works. Worst Behavior is Drake at peak performance of that specific thing: soft-tough, controlled, in on the joke without breaking character for a second.
