Long Legs, No Reason

The internet occasionally arrives at something so purposeless, so purely lateral in logic, that the only honest response is a kind of respect. Cats in tights: someone put cats in pantyhose, pulled up over four legs so the animal appears to have the bottom half of a woman in sheer hosiery, then photographed the results. A Tumblr devoted entirely to this. Hundreds of photos. No explanation offered, none needed. The cats look bemused. The legs look surprisingly convincing. Sexually, I was thinking before I stopped myself, they are more appealing than ever.

This is what the connected world produced on a Tuesday in November 2013. Not a treaty, not a discovery. Cats. In tights. The internet has always been humanity’s collective subconscious made visible, and the subconscious is not rational. You know it won’t mean anything, but you scroll through every photo anyway.
