Miranda Kerr, Undimmed

Most people exiting a high-profile marriage spend some time in dignified collapse—cancelled appearances, strategic invisibility, the general retreat from being looked at. Miranda Kerr, freshly separated from Orlando Bloom, apparently found that tradition unconvincing. Instead she shot a spread with Terry Richardson for Harper’s Bazaar that reads less like a magazine editorial and more like a direct challenge to anyone who assumed the divorce might have dimmed something.

It hasn’t.

I’ve spent more time than I’m willing to admit trying to understand what went wrong between those two, and I’ve come up with nothing useful. The photographs are a helpful reminder that some questions are better left open.
