Two Door Cinema Club’s "Next Year" has the same quality as most of their best work: it sounds like leaving—specifically like the moment just before you do something you’ve been putting off for too long. The Belfast band built their name on that feeling, guitar pop that’s tighter and more anxious than it looks, with hooks that arrive before you’re ready. "Next Year" fits somewhere in the middle of that catalog: not the song you’d name first, but the one you’re glad is there.
