Eight Minutes of Timberlake

The *NSYNC posters came down years ago but the muscle memory is still there—every word to "Bye Bye Bye," the choreography of "It’s Gonna Be Me," the way "Tearin’ Up My Heart" still does something involuntary when it shuffles in uninvited. That era had a real grip, and I’ve made my peace with it.

Solo Justin Timberlake is something I’ve always appreciated more from a distance. The craft is undeniable—the voice, the instinct for melody, the moves that somehow never look like effort. I get why people go feral for him, men and women both. "Mirrors," from The 20/20 Experience, runs nearly eight minutes and earns most of them. It’s a love song that actually means it—sweeping and earnest in a way that should feel manufactured but doesn’t land that way. Against my better judgment, it got to me.
