November Inventory

There’s a specific moment in late autumn when the light jacket you’ve been getting away with stops being sufficient. You step outside and the cold hits differently—not crisp anymore, just cold—and you go back inside to find something with actual insulation. November, doing what November does.

Winter streetwear has gotten more interesting over the past decade. The old binary between functional and aesthetic has mostly collapsed. Labels like Nudie Jeans and Cheap Monday eventually worked out that people want to look decent while also not freezing, which should have been obvious far earlier but apparently required extensive market research to establish. A good parka, a Herschel pack—the kind that carries everything and wears the right kind of worn-in—and you’re equipped for most of what the season can throw at you.

The adidas Originals pieces with Japanese script remain a particular weakness of mine. That collision of sportswear silhouette and typography that doesn’t try to explain itself—you either get it or you don’t, and nothing about the design is asking for your approval either way. Winter, when you’re dressed right, stops being something to simply endure.
