The Face That Understood Everything

No meme, no image macro, no piece of internet ephemera has ever captured the specific texture of wasted potential quite like Grumpy Cat. That flat, permanent scowl—disgusted but resigned, furious but too tired to bother—said everything a whole generation was feeling without knowing how to say it. Annoyed at everything. Still here. Still somehow showing up.

She turned two years old, and I find myself genuinely fond of her in a way I’d find embarrassing to explain out loud. The internet would be measurably worse without that face. Stay forever, please. I mean it.
