Black Edition, Skulls, and a Neon Beast
There’s a specific kind of Friday afternoon where someone invites you to a spacious apartment on Bülowstraße, hands you a small sandwich and a drink, and then shows you clothes. The adidas Originals Fall/Winter 2014 preview was exactly that—low-key, unhurried, and better than it had any right to be.
The Black Edition was the standout for me. Dark, precise, with a restrained authority that makes you think about wearing it somewhere you haven’t been yet. The collaboration with Tokyo’s NEIGHBORHOOD brought the skulls-and-leather energy that label is known for—the kind of collab where both sides seem to have actually talked to each other before putting their names on things together.
But the piece that lodged itself in my brain was the neon ZX Flux—a screaming, hot-coloured thing that refuses to be ignored. It’s not subtle, it’s not trying to be, and it’s better for it. Some shoes exist to blend. This one exists to make the rest of the outfit feel like it’s working for it.
