There’s a Pavlovian twitch that happens when the default iPhone ringtone goes off in a quiet room—that ascending marimba figure that reads as "someone wants something from you right now and it probably can’t wait." A musician called MetroGnome took those six notes and stretched them into a full electronic track, which works better than it has any right to. The anxiety is still in there, baked into the DNA of the melody—but now it moves. It’s almost funny how easily dread becomes euphoria with enough bass underneath it.
