Against the Weather

Late March and the weather has made its choice: grey, cold, the kind of damp that gets through a jacket before you’ve made it half a block. Standing outside consuming anything sounds like punishment.

Brian Wallace, founder of Endorfin Chocolat, had a better idea. In a video for Munchies, he walks through making cannabis-infused hot chocolate from scratch—actual quality chocolate, genuine technique, the whole thing treated with the seriousness it deserves rather than the wink-wink energy that usually attaches itself to this subject. The result looks like something worth making on a Sunday when there’s nowhere to be.

I’ve always preferred edibles to smoking anyway. There’s something more considered about it—you’re in your kitchen, you know what went in, you sit down with a mug and wait. No standing in the cold, no ritual, no performance for anyone watching. Just warmth working through you while the weather carries on outside doing exactly what it wants. The video is worth tracking down. Better than going out.
