This Much White

White sneakers have to be genuinely, aggressively white—not off-white, not vintage-fade, not cream. Snow white. The kind that makes strangers shift uncomfortably on the subway. Adidas Superstar is still the benchmark for me, but I’ll acknowledge when someone else does something worth noticing.

Stussy Livin’ General Store teamed up with MoonStar—a shoe manufacturer out of Kurume, in the southern tip of Japan—on a special run of their Rain Shoes called the Monochrome Pack. There’s a black version too, but nobody’s here for that.

The result reads like a careful hybrid of the adidas Superstar and the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star—the shell toe logic of one, the canvas spirit of the other, and then a layer of Japanese craft obsession on top that makes both originals feel slightly embarrassed. Available through Stussy Livin’, assuming your Japanese holds up long enough to complete the checkout.
