His Name Is Christoph

Do you remember the two men who got drunk and urinated on small children in a Berlin subway car while screaming Scheiß Asylantenpack, Heil Hitler, and We are the master race? Of course you do. That kind of thing doesn’t leave the memory easily.

Reporters from Spiegel TV tracked one of them down in the Berlin neighborhood of Neukölln. His name is Christoph. He has been convicted multiple times for weapons possession, assault, and incitement to hatred, and has done prison time for each. Something about all those hours in a cell apparently gave him a particular view of the world’s hierarchy.

The reason to name him, to show his face—is exactly that. Xenophobic and violent people shouldn’t get to dissolve back into the crowd of "concerned citizens," shouldn’t get to be just another anonymous voice online. Especially not when their concern involves urinating on children while shouting Heil Hitler.
