MØ Drives Into the Sun

MØ is fucking fantastic, and anyone who thinks differently either has unresolved issues with themselves, their girlfriend, or their veterinarian’s dog—I don’t know your life. She appeared seemingly from nowhere and turned the empty dance floors of Europe into sweating, heaving rooms. She is not going away.

"Drum" is her latest, and the video does exactly what you’d want: a road trip, open highway, our fastblonde heroine and the specific intoxication of moving fast toward something that hasn’t decided what it is yet. The song runs on the same fuel—something tightening in the chest that can’t quite decide if it’s anxiety or excitement. With MØ it’s usually both.

The Danish singer has always had this quality of barely controlled momentum, like she might not show up tomorrow, or might show up twice. "Drum" captures it. Play it loud enough and it will make you want to do something inadvisable, which is about the highest compliment I know how to give a song.
