Kilometers and Liters of Seawater

Jasmin and Isabella from Tea & Twigs are among the few people from the fashion-blog world I’ve stayed genuinely close to. Not because I suddenly developed opinions about hemlines, but because they’re sharp, funny, and know how to turn an afternoon into a whole evening. We’ve done press trips together by the sea, burned through bottles of champagne on hotel rooftop terraces that were far too good for us, and ended up at a thoroughly wet party in Lisbon somewhere in the early hours. Good people.

They’ve started a podcast. It’s called Ferngespräch—German for long-distance call—and it grew out of the physical distance that’s opened up between them. Since we’re now separated by a few kilometers and many liters of seawater, seeing each other regularly is no longer a given, Jasmin explains, so we talk and listen to each other all the more often. That’s also how the idea for the podcast came about: from the landline to the internet, more or less.

They cover love, work, modern feminism, food, the internet, the specific texture of unusual relationships—the things two close friends actually talk about when they finally get the chance. It’s on iTunes and SoundCloud. Two people who are actually interesting, talking to each other honestly. That’s a rare thing.
