Somebody Finally Made the Right Decisions

There’s a specific frustration that comes with watching bad porn—not moral frustration, purely aesthetic. The edit is wrong, the dialogue is unbearable, the moaning sounds like it was ADR’d in a parking structure. The guy has no idea what he’s doing. The woman checked out twenty minutes ago. The money shot gets fumbled, or the video cuts off at exactly the wrong moment. Every time, the same thought: I should have directed this.

Apparently Young M.A had the same thought, and unlike the rest of us, she actually followed through. The Brooklyn rapper made her directorial debut with The Gift, an all-female film featuring Ana Foxxx, Gina Valentina, Honey Gold, Jenna Sativa, Shyla Jennings, Anya Ivy, Elena Koshka, Yara Skye, and Zoey Reyes, all of them working their way through an otherwise empty California villa. That cast list alone is enough justification for sitting down with this.

The premise is minimal and correctly so: a self-described virgin stumbles from one encounter to the next and arrives back in the real world considerably more experienced than when she left. Clean structure, well executed. I watched the whole thing and I’d genuinely recommend it—unless your requirements specifically include naked amateur grandmothers being beaten with shit-covered goats, in which case The Gift is going to feel disappointingly professional. For everyone else, it’s free on Pornhub, and Young M.A turns out to know exactly what she’s doing behind a camera.
