There’s a particular kind of confidence that reads as completely effortless in photographs, and Marie Czuczman has it. The 22-year-old student from Gießen—and former contestant on Germany’s Next Topmodel—shot for Playboy under full Spanish sun with photographer Simon Bolz, and the results are exactly what happen when someone genuinely doesn’t care what the camera thinks of them. Bolz called her a dream for any photographer,
which sounds like press-kit language until you see the pictures and realize he’s just describing what he saw.
She describes herself as overwhelming on first impression—aggressively open with strangers, no hesitation, nothing embarrasses her. Her actual name is Marie-Christin. She’s a rock and metal obsessive who started on acoustic guitar at thirteen, switched to electric, was in a band for a while before time got in the way. Now she plays alone when she can, quieter things these days, which is the kind of detail that makes a person more interesting than the shoot itself.
On sex she’s equally direct: if the desire and passion aren’t there, if it’s only routine with someone whose head is elsewhere, she’d rather skip it. In bed you have to have fun and be able to let go.
